Microsoft is a significant and long-term investor in innovation in Europe to drive new software products and services, inspire new ways to use efficient IT solutions and contribute to long-term sustainable growth for our company, our partners, and the European knowledge-based economy and society. Our investments focus on finding solutions to difficult computing problems and social challenges, working in partnership with governments, academia, industry partners and non-governmental organisations.
We put human values at the center of computing. In 2007, Microsoft Research organized the Human-Computer Interaction 2020 conference to help develop the cross-disciplinary research networks and methodologies to improve the way we interact with computers. Also, we brought together a group of the world's experts to create towards 2020 Science the challenges and opportunities arising from the increasing synthesis of computing and the sciences.
We venture in building partnerships with different organisations in developing new research programs in Europe. In Europe, we run a number of research labs as we partner with different institutions across Europe in strengthening research efforts in the region, for example through joint research institutes.
As we invest in innovation and development centres, we assure the development of innovate software technologies and making our software and technological services are accessible to everyone in Europe, to start-ups and young entrepreneurs as well as to those who will benefit from it the most.
